OP/4 Field Report: 8FEB2020 "Battle of Hoth" Author: Carnage
We came, we saw, we conquered. OP/4 helped lead the Empire (red) to victory. In the first half, the rebels had a solid lead with having held the empire at a stalemate in multiple locations on the field. On the empires right side the octagon was a constant struggle, losing players to gain and lose mere inches. On the empires left side the war waged more furiously with troops needing to clear buildings and fight the rebels constant drive to conquer objectives. After a war-time cease fire (lunch break) The second half opened with the empire making a mad dash for the now empires right, after capturing several buildings the rebels advance was haulted. Meanwhile, OP/4 squads were ordered to help hold the octagon and push an advance on the compound. With the left side alley being held down by several dug in snipers, multiple attempts to push by Inferno squad with support from OP/4 were repelled and eventually the left side began to collapse back. OP/4 redirected our efforts in an attempt to push up the middle and assault the front of the compound, which was being held by a squad of rebels and was currently under assault by a friendly squad of troops. Our efforts were again stopped by rebels dug into the woods with a rebel headquarters nearby. OP/4 squads again regrouped at our headquarters and after receiving news that our right flank had been overrun and rebels were nearing our base, we decided to team up with some Legionaires and push the right flank to stop the rebel advance. OP/4 and Legionaires were successful at stopping the advance, but were also halted resulting in a stalemate. While the right flank battled to again gain mere inches, a splinter squad of OP/4 and legionaire members broke to the middle of the right flank toward the barracks building where fellow Empire troops were pinned. After viewing the situation and laying down support fire, several rebels were pushed back into the buildings they had advanced from. The firefighting in the buildings became intense as the rebels feared losing the buildings they had captured. Upon hearing a rally cry from the right flank we observed our remaining elements that had been holding the far right flank swinging around that corner and pushing hard to our 1 o clock position which had been held by rebels in the buildings. Not wanting to lose this momentum, OP/4 squad members joined and eventually led the advance through the buildings, clearing the way to again assault the front of the compound. The urban type warfare was intense but with the tide turning the Empire was able to land secure positions under the tower and began clearing an advance to the compound. Under steady fire OP/4 squad members were able to infiltrate and clear the compound, completely turning the tide in the center of the field of operations. Rebel fighters were pushed back to their headquarters and were unable to regain their lost footing on the compound. After holding the compound for the remainder of the game, the Empire finished the game with a solid win. The OP/4 squads helped in decisive victories accross the field and at times were seen in small 2 man fireteams leading charges and developing strategies for squads to make pushes on several fronts. Squad members captured objectives, returned much needed relics to headquarters and assisted in rallying the Empire to victory.
A Game well played folks. Well played. Until next time.
