Welcome back. Last time we went over my favorite magfed markers. This time, I'll talk more about other pieces of kit that make magfed life a lot easier.
Having some type of chest rig/battle belt is pretty much mandatory for magfed. Carrying magazines (I usually have 7 for each game, and I'd recommend no less that 4) without a quick and easy way to access them will guarantee you having a bad time. My go-to's are a Condor Gunner plate carrier with fake foam plate inserts I got off Amazon. Plenty of Molle space on the front and back to customize it to your play style. I usually do 6 mags on the front, with my air tank and remote line attached to the back. Foam plates aren't necessary, but they do give a solid base to pull against when removing magazines.
Another great setup is anything by Whiskey Two Four. Their gear is completely modular and can be interchanged with their different harnesses, mag pouches, and extra bags they make. It's all very lightweight, with a lot of different camo options to choose from. The best selling point for WTF is that it's all made specifically for magfed. That 's very important when it comes to the mag pouches. Most manufacturers of magazine pouches are for actual firearms, creating some fitment issues for magfed magazines (I've found Condor mag pouches to be especially guilty of being too tight for paintball). The WTF mag pouches are cut to fit all the popular paintball mags out there, making the draw from the pouch super smooth.
Battle belts are another decent option. Personally, I don't like too much gear hanging off my belt. I usually limit it to a sidearm (if I can remember to use it), extra pistol magazine, and a dump pouch. I've used the Condor gen. 2 slim battle belt in conjunction with the plate carrier with good results. In the end, I ditched the battle belt for a standard gun belt with my accessories having belt, rather than Molle attachments.
Other than the chest rigs and mag pouches, another super important piece of gear is a dump pouch. Again, Condor makes a great one that's super cheap. Having an easy place to put spent magazines saves a lot of time reloading in a match. Without one, you either have to drop your magazine on the ground or attempt to re-index it before drawing your next one. So don't underestimate the power of the dump pouch!
If you're looking to save some money, I think this is a decent area to do it in. My Condor Gunner plate carrier, two triple stack mag pouches, and dump pouch are about $120 brand new. Cheapest of all, WTF sells a bare bones "Turnkey" rig that includes 5 mag pouches for $45. Add a dump pouch for $20, and you're still under $100 for a lightweight rig that'll cover all the bases.
